Area Enclosure is a game mechanic where players surround as much area as they can by placing or moving pieces. Go is the oldest and most famous Area Enclosure game.
Area Enclosure games differ from those using than Area Control / Area Influence because players develop areas on a gridded board as they play, whereas in Area Control / Area Influence the areas are pre-defined with players competing to see who can control the most.
