From an unknown noun Proto-Turkic *bur (<*bukr) + *-čak (diminutive suffix).
Akin to Proto-Mongolic *buxurcag (“pea”), Proto-Tungusic *boka-ri (“pea”). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
