- (colloquial, barbershop music) A baritone (singer)
Derived terms
Albanian
Etymology
Back-formation from plural barinjë, from earlier *bar, from Proto-Albanian *bara, from Proto-Indo-European *bher- (“to carry”). Compare Old High German baro (“man, husband”).[1] A connection with ari (“bear”) has also been proposed (compare Basque hartz (“bear”) and Basque artzain (“shepherd”)), though ari was originally arth prior to the loss of the -th ending by mistake.
Noun
bari m (plural barinj, definite bariu, definite plural barinjtë)
