-мыкать

Russian

Etymology

From imperfective lengthening of the Proto-Slavic perfective infinitive stem *-mъk- (from the infinitive *mъknǫti) + -а́ть (-átʹ). Similar lengthening accounts for the change -о--а- in imperfective derivations in -ывать (-yvatʹ) and -ивать (-ivatʹ), e.g.
