  2. to go by, to pass (about time)
  3. to come out (about vapor, smoke)

Usage notes

  • іти́ (itý) and піти́ (pitý) are concrete verbs. Their counterpart, ходи́ти (xodýty), is an abstract verb.
  • The forms іти́ (itý) (used after consonants or at the beginning of a clause) and йти (jty) (used after vowels) differ in pronunciation but are considered variants of the same word.
