Etymology
Cognate with Erzya эзь (eź), Proto-Finnic *esi. The form изень (iźeń, “I'm not”) corresponds to Eastern Mari ышым (yšym, “id.”), the initial element should be considered of the same origin as in иля (iľa),[1] see лия (ľija) for more.
