Learnedly, from Hellenistic Koine Greek καταργῶ (katargô),[1] contracted form of καταργέω (katargéō, leave unemployed; abolish). By surface analysis, κατ- (kat-) + αργώ (argó), from ἀργός (argós, idle) / αργός.
