Biography

Iwanami was born in Kobe on June 18, 1994. He joined J1 League club Vissel Kobe from their youth team in 2012. Although he debuted in 2012, Vissel was relegated to J2 League end of the 2012 season. In 2013, he became a regular player as center back and Vissel was promoted to J1 in a year. In 2018, he moved to Urawa Reds. Urawa won the 2nd place in the 2019 AFC Champions League.

In June 2011, Iwanami was selected the Japan U-17 national team for 2011 U-17 World Cup and he played 4 matches as captain. In August 2016, he was selected the Japan U-23 national team for 2016 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in the match.
