An American in Paris is a 1951 American musical comedy movie directed by Vincente Minnelli and was based on the musical of the same name by George Gershwin. It stars Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Oscar Levant, Georges Guétary, Nina Foch, Eugene Borden and was distributed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It was nominated for 8 Oscars and won 6 Academy Awards in 1952.
