Etymology
Sino-Vietnamese word from 信用, composed of 信 (“trust”) and 用 (“use”), Literary Chinese 信用 (xìnyòng, “to trust and use; to delegate”), reinterpreted in Japanese 信用 (shin'yō, literally “for use in trust”). Doublet of tin dùng.
