From Ottoman Turkish اینانمق (inanmak), from Proto-Turkic *ïnan- (to believe; trust, rely on). Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (ïnan-), etc.

Usage notes

  • When saying you believe someone, either the dative or nominative accusative can be used, however the dative is often preferred.
