Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish بالمقابله (bilʿmuḳābele, in return, reciprocally),[1] from Arabic بِالْمُقَابَلَة (bi-l-muqābala), from بِـ (bi-) + اَلْ (al-) + مُقَابَلَة (muqābala),[2] equivalent to bil- + mukabele (an act of responding, reciprocating).
