From Proto-Indo-European *-tis.

- Deverbative, creates nouns denoting act, state, objects or tools.
- *merti (“to die”) → *sъmьrtь (“death”)
- *mogti > *moťi (“to be able to, can”) → *mogtь > *moťь (“power, strength”)
- *pekti > *peťi (“to bake”) → *pektь > *peťь (“furnace”)
- *padti > *pasti (“to fall”) → *padtь >*pastь (“trap”)
- *mazati (“to grease”) → *maztь > *mastь (“ointment”)
- *dē- (“to suck”) > *dětь (“child”)
