Etymology 2

Cognate with Old Armenian անձն (anjn, soul, person), possibly from Proto-Indo-European *h₂én(h₁)ǵʰō or *h₂en(h₁)ǵʰḗn (breath)[1], from a suffixed/extended form of the root *h₂enh₁- (to breathe) as in *ananą.[2]
