Etymology
As a Zhejiang city, a blend of its former name Longjiang Port Area (龍江港區/龙江港区, Lóngjiāng gǎngqū) adopted upon its elevation to town status in 1983. The name Longjiang itself derived from the "Qinglong River" (青龍江/青龙江), used locally for the lower Ao (鰲江/鳌江).
