A vermilion pill used in traditional Chinese medicine "to dispel summer-heat, to counteract toxicity, to prevent the attack of evil factors and to promote the restoration of normal consciousness in the treatment of sudden attacks of restlessness and impairment of consciousness, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and trismus".
