ยับยั้ง

From ยับ (yáp, “to keep”) +‎ ยั้ง (yáng, “to stop, to halt, to pause; to wait, to delay; etc”).

ยับยั้ง • (yáp-yáng) (abstract noun การยับยั้ง)

1. (law, politics) to veto.
2. to restrain, to hold, to withhold, to suppress, to prevent, to hinder, to debar; to put off, to defer, to delay.
   • Proverbs 27:16, KJV:
