Etymology
Uncertain: said to be of onomatopoeic/nursery origin, but compare Latin Acca Larentia and Ancient Greek ἀγάλλω (agállō, “to adorn oneself, be vain or crazy”), used to describe women. Compare Marathi अक्का (akkā), Kannada ಅಕ್ಕ (akka), Malayalam അക്ക (akka), Telugu అక్క (akka), Tamil அக்கா (akkā), Sinhalese අක්කා (akkā).
