Etymology
From the feminine imperative of ܦܵܝܹܫ (pāyēš, “remain”) + ܫܲܝܢܵܐ (šaynā, “safety”), literally “remain in safety”; compare Arabic مَعَ ٱلسَّلَامَةِ (maʕa s-salāmati).
Usage notes
- This is used when said to something in the feminine singular form; the masculine singular is ܦܘܿܫ ܒܫܲܝܢܵܐ (poš b-šaynā), and plural is ܦܘܿܫܘܼܢ ܒܫܲܝܢܵܐ (pošon b-šaynā).
