Etymology 1
Inherited from Proto-Turkic *kürgek (“shovel”), a development of *küre- (“to rake”), whence كورهمك (küremek, “to rake”). Cognate with Azerbaijani kürək, Bashkir көрәк (körək), Kazakh күрек (kürek), Kyrgyz күрөк (kürök), Uzbek kurak and Yakut күрдьэх (kürjeq).
