بنیاد

Persian

Etymology

From Middle Persian [Term?] (/bun-dāt/), from Old Persian [script needed] (buna datiy, placed it in the foundation). Compare بنداد (bondâd), and بنلاد (bonlâd). The financial sense is of modern usage and probably a semantic loan from European languages, e.g. French fondation.
