Compare Aramaic עַמּוּדָא (ʿammūḏā, “column”) and Arabic عَمُود (ʕamūd, “column”).

עַמּוּד • (amúd) m (plural indefinite עַמּוּדִים, singular construct עַמּוּד־, plural construct עַמּוּדֵי־)

1. pillar, column, post
   • Tanach, Exodus 26:32, with translation of the New International Version:

     וְנָתַתָּה אֹתָהּ עַל־אַרְבָּעָה עַמּוּדֵי שִׁטִּים מְצֻפִּים זָהָב וָוֵיהֶם זָהָב עַל־אַרְבָּעָה אַדְנֵי־כָסֶף׃

2. page (as of a book)

• In the sense of "page," עמוד generally refers to a page in a book, but is sometimes used to reference to things like web pages, for which the word דַּף is also used.
