Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *h₁ōd-, from *h₁ed-. The verb is suppletive: part of the conjugation is filled by կեր- (ker-), from Proto-Indo-European *gʷerh₃-, whence also կեր (ker). Compare Albanian ha.
