An Iranian borrowing: compare Middle Persian [script needed] (klcng), 𐫞𐫏𐫡𐫉𐫗𐫃 (qyrzng /⁠kerzang⁠/), Persian خرچنگ (xarčang), Central Kurdish قرژاڵ (qirjall), قرژانگ (qirjang), Southern Kurdish قِرژِنگ (qirjing, crab).[1][2][3] Doublet of Middle Armenian քարժանկ (kʻaržank).
