худалдах

Mongolian

Etymology

From Proto-Mongolic *kudaldu-, possibly somehow related through borrowing of inheritance with Proto-Tungusic *xuda- and Proto-Turkic *ȫte- (to pay).

Compare Dongxiang ghudandu, Manchu ᡠᡩᠠᠮᠪᡳ (udambi, to buy), Manchu ᡥᡡᡩᠠ (hūda, business), Nanai хода (price) Turkish ödemek (to pay).

The element *-ldu-, is the ancestor of the cooperative in -лдах (-ldax).
