Learned borrowing from French cartomancie, from carto- + μαντεία f (manteía, divination).[1] By surface analysis, χαρτο- (charto-, card) + -μαντεία (-manteía, -mancy), from χαρτί n (chartí, paper) and μαντεία f (manteía, divination).
