Inauguration of Jimmy Carter
The inauguration of Jimmy Carter as the 39th president of the United States was held on January 20, 1977. The inauguration was the beginning of the four-year term of Jimmy Carter as President and Walter Mondale as Vice President. It was also the end of Gerald Ford's presidency.

Chief Justice Warren E. Burger administered the oath of office to Jimmy Carter,[1] and House Speaker Tip O'Neill administered the Oath of office to Walter Mondale. This was the last inauguration that was set up on the East section of the U. S. Capitol.
