The first inauguration of George Washington as the president of the United States took place on April 30, 1789.

The inauguration was the beginning of the first term of George Washington as president. John Adams had already taken office as vice president on April 21. Washington was sworn in by Chancellor of New York Robert Livingston.

Washington became the first president of the United States following the ratification of the Constitution.
