zodra
Dutch
Etymology
Univerbation of zo (“so”) + dra (“soon”), the latter from Middle Dutch drâde; compare weldra (“soon”). Likely related to Dutch draaien (“to turn”), with an unclear development of sense, in which case from Proto-Germanic *þrēaną. In this case cognate with German drehen (“to throw”) and English throw. Also compare Middle High German drâte (“fast”) from Old High German dratō (“swift, violent”).
