văpaie
Romanian
Etymology
Unknown. Possibly from Albanian vapë (“hot weather”),[1][2] from Old Italian vapa (“vapor”),[3] from Latin vapor (“heat, hot air”), though the relationship between the words is uncertain. Another theory is that it is linked to a Vulgar Latin root *vapalia, from vapa.[4] Compare Sicilian vampa.
