1. (transitive) to hang out

   You probably forgot to hang out the laundry.

2. (transitive) to act like, to behave like

   de clown uithangen

   to act like a clown

   Ga je nu gewoon de nazi uithangen ofzo en duizenden mensen doden?

   Are you now just going to act like a Nazi or what and kill thousands of people?

In the sense "to act like", an accompanying noun is always preceded by the definite article, even when the English equivalent would use an indefinite article. The accompanying noun is usually singular.
