Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *tri/eK-(ś-), of uncertain origin, probably from Proto-Indo-European *tréyes (three). Similar formation with degё. Cognate to Ancient Greek τρέχνος (trékhnos) and τέρχνος (térkhnos, sprout, (young) shoot).[1]
