Etymology

Based on Ancient Greek ταῦρος (taûros, bull) and presumably (being an initiative of Stichting Taurus), Latin taurus (bull). The variant in -os was apparently chosen for the superficial resemblance to the Dutch word os (ox), as in oeros (aurochs); note also the stylized variant TaurOs. Doublet of stier.

Noun

tauros m (plural taurossen, diminutive taurosje n)

  1. The tauros (breed of cattle).
