Cognate with Burmese သစ် (sac, “wood, tree(in compounds)”), Tibetan ཤིང (shing, “tree, wood”), Old Chinese 薪 (OC *siŋ, “wood”), Tangut 𗝠 (*sji¹, “wood, tree”), Sichuan Yi ꌩ (syr, “tree, wood”). Compare with Lhao Vo sag' , Zaiwa sik, and Longchuan Achang ʂək⁵⁵.
