pjetë
Albanian
Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *peta (“to be ruptured”), from Proto-Indo-European *peth₂- (“to spread out; to fly”), related to Greek πετάννυμι (petánnymi, “to widen”), Latin pateō (“to be open”).[1] Possibly also connected to shpëtoj (“to save”), although unlikely.
