Etymology
From Proto-Albanian *harδ, from Proto-Indo-European *HorT- (“vine-branch, grape-vine, shot of a vine”).[1] Possibly related to ardh ~ erdha (“to come, derive”). For sense development compare Proto-Germanic *stamniz, both 'tree stalk' and 'tribe, origin'. Possibly the source of the name of the Illyrian tribe Ardiaei.
Noun
hardhi f (plural hardhi, definite hardhia, definite plural hardhit)
