From Javanese bendara (ꦧꦼꦤ꧀ꦢꦫ), from Prakrit bhaṁḍāra, bhaṁḍāāra, bhaṁḍāgāra, from Sanskrit भाण्डागार (bhāṇḍāgāra, “treasury”). Doublet of bendahara, bendahari, bendara, and bendoro.
