Inherited from Old Tupi a'e, from Proto-Tupi-Guarani *aʔe (“he”).

aé
Usage notes
- As a first-class pronoun, aé is used as the subject (with the exception of second-class verbs, which are sometimes referred to as adjectives) and as the object of a sentence. Unlike other first-class pronouns, aé is not used with the postposition arama.
