Etymology 2
Derived from Proto-Indo-European *wer-. Cognates include Hittite 𒉿𒊏𒀀𒉌 (wa-ra-a-ni, “to burn”), Old Armenian վառեմ (vaṙem, “to fire”), possibly Etruscan 𐌅𐌄𐌓𐌔𐌄 (verse, “fire”).
