Probably cognate with Avestan 𐬯𐬗𐬀𐬥𐬛𐬀𐬌𐬌𐬈𐬌𐬥𐬙𐬌 (scandaiieinti, “they destroy”), 𐬯𐬐𐬆𐬥𐬛𐬀 (skənda, “broken; illness”), Latin scandula (“shingles”) (also scindula).
