Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *(H)rek- (to arrange, set in order). Conventionally linked to Proto-Slavic *reťi (to say), Tocharian B reki (word), and Gothic 𐍂𐌰𐌷𐌽𐌾𐌰𐌽 (rahnjan, to count, calculate).[1]
