Proto-Brythonic
Etymology
Borrowed from Latin pira, plural of pirum. In Vulgar Latin pira was reanalysed as a feminine singular (*pira), but the plural number of *per suggests that this is not the form that underlies the borrowing into Brythonic.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈpeːr/
