From *Bertamiranis or *Bertamiranes, a derivative of Bertamirus, in origin a Germanic personal name, and meaning "Bertamir's property" or "Bertamir's descendants"; from Suevic or Gothic, from Proto-Germanic *Berhtamēraz, from *berhtaz (bright) + *mēraz (famous).[1]
