Inherited from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀥𑀽𑀫 (dhūma), from Sanskrit धूम (dhūmá, “smoke”). Compare modern धूर (dhūr) with the -𑀭- (-ra-) extension, Old Punjabi ਧੂਂਉ (dhūṃu).
