๐๐๐น๐ฐ๐ธ๐ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐ป๐ณ๐ด๐น๐
Gothic
Etymology
From ๐๐๐น๐พ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ ๐ฐ (frijaรพwa) +โ *๐ผ๐น๐ป๐ณ๐ด๐น๐ (*mildeis, โmildโ), from Proto-Germanic *mildijaz. Calque of Ancient Greek ฯฮนฮปฯฯฯฮฟฯฮณฮฟฯ (philรณstorgos). This lemma may also be given as frijaรพwamildeis based on its derivation; intervocalic -j- is sometimes omitted in Gothic spelling, as in the single attestation of this term, but it is etymological and visible in most cases. Some sources reconstruct the second part of this lemma as *๐ผ๐น๐ป๐ณ๐ (*milds) (the attested form is ambiguous).
