Etymology

Cognate with and possibly loaned from Korean 점글다 (jeomgeulda), from Middle Korean 졈글〮다〮 (cyèmkúltá). Also seemingly cognate with Middle Korean 져믈〮다〮 (cyèmúltá) and Korean 저물다 (jeomulda), which would make it a doublet of ᄌᆞ물다 (jawmulda), but the alternation of the stop is difficult to explain.
