오명가명

Early Modern Korean

Etymology

From Middle Korean 명〮 명〮 (Yale: wòmyéng kàmyéng), using the emphatic verb-final particle (Yale: -ng) after the connective forms of 오다〮 (Yale: wòtá, “to come”) and 가다〮 (Yale: kàtá, “to go”). This is the only construction in which the particle in question survived into Early Modern Korean.
