Etymology

First attested in the Worin seokbo (月印釋譜 / 월인석보), 1459, as Middle Korean 도다 (Yale: two-ta), similarly attested only in the imperative 도라 (Yale: two-la).

Verb

도다 • (doda) (Gyeongsang)

  1. to give; used only in the imperative mood
    Synonym: 주다 (juda)
  2. (auxiliary, with the 어/아 infinitive) for someone; forms benefactive verbs. Used only in the imperative mood.
    좀 해도라. ― Jom hae-dora. ― Just do it for me.

Usage notes
  • Used only in the informal imperative conjugations: 도라 (dora) and 도 (do).
  • Similar to Standard Korean 달다 (dalda), but used much more commonly.
