Compound of 討ち (uchi, to attack, the 連用形(れんようけい) (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb () (utsu)) + 死に (shini, to die, the 連用形(れんようけい) (ren'yōkei, stem or continuative form) of the verb () (shinu)). The shini changes to jini as an instance of rendaku (連濁).
