     Nánfāng yǒu niǎo, qí míng wéi yuānchú, zǐ zhī zhī hū? Fú yuānchú fā yú Nánhǎi ér fēi yú Běihǎi, fēi wútóng bùzhǐ, fēi liànshí bùshí, fēi lǐquán bùyǐn. [Pinyin]

     There is in the south a bird, called Yuanchu — do you know it? Starting from the South Sea, it flies to the Northern; never resting but on the wutong, never eating but the fruit of the lian tree, and never drinking but from the purest springs.
